Ask what the report should help someone decide
A collection of reviews can support different questions: which product details need clearer explanation, which packaging complaints recur, or which expectations were not met? Choose a decision before writing a generic positive-versus-negative summary.
Work with feedback you are permitted to process and minimize personal information. This field note is a suggested reporting method. It does not claim to have studied a named store’s customers or established how representative a review sample is.
Separate the topic from the tone
A customer can praise a product and criticize delivery in the same review. A single sentiment label can erase that distinction. Keep a small topic list and allow more than one theme when the evidence supports it.
Preserve the original rating separately from any derived label. Schema.org distinguishes a review from an aggregate rating; your analysis should also retain the individual evidence instead of replacing it with a summary number.
| Suggested theme | Question to inspect |
|---|---|
| Product fit | Did it suit the intended use? |
| Expectation mismatch | Was a listed detail misunderstood or absent? |
| Delivery and packaging | What happened outside the product itself? |
| Service experience | Was the issue about support or resolution? |
| Needs review | Is the evidence unclear or mixed? |
Attach an excerpt to each label
A reviewer should be able to find why a theme was assigned. Keep a short supporting passage, the source reference, the product variant, and the relevant date with the label. Treat translations and summaries as derived material, keeping the original text available to authorized reviewers.
If AI assists classification, validate that its cited passage appears in the source. Do not let review text execute instructions or initiate privileged actions. The output should be a proposed classification that can be checked, not an autonomous decision about a customer.
Report the sample as carefully as the themes
State the date range, sources, inclusion rules, and number of reviews considered. A review mentioning late delivery is not the same as a verified late delivery event. Avoid converting mentions into incident rates without the necessary underlying order data.
Review disagreements and show counterexamples when they affect the conclusion. For repeated reports, keep theme definitions consistent or identify the change. The useful output is an evidence-backed question for the product or operations team, not an unsupported claim about all customers.

This is a practical framework. Numerical examples are illustrative, not observations of a named retailer. Check current platform documentation before applying product-specific requirements.
